Does RV Storage Depot rent boat storage units?

RV Storage Depot doesn't rent boat storage units with a roll-up door: a boat here goes in a parking space sized to its length on the trailer. You park it outdoors yourself, or our team parks it for you by valet, outdoors or inside.

Boat storage units vs parking spaces

A boat storage unit is usually a garage with a roll-up door that you lock yourself. We store boats differently. The boat stays on its trailer in a marked space, and the space is sized to the whole rig, coupler to motor.

RV Storage Depot – Norwalk also rents self-storage units. Those are for gear, not boats.

Three ways to store a boat

Outdoor self parking

You tow the boat in, back it into your space and come and go on your own schedule. Use a fitted cover. Sun fades gelcoat and cracks vinyl on a boat that sits for months.

Outdoor valet

Still outdoors, but our team parks the boat and brings it out when you call ahead. It's the easy choice if backing a trailer in every trip gets old.

Indoor valet

Our team parks the boat inside, out of the sun and weather. The height limit depends on the location (see Find your size below).

Where each is offered

All four locations store boats. As listed at each one on 2026-10-29:

Find your size

Measure the boat on its trailer, from the back of the outboard or swim platform to the tip of the coupler. Use that number, not the hull length from the brochure. Add 3′ to back in and close up, and that's the shortest space to ask for. A boat that's 22′ on its trailer needs at least 25′.

Width doesn't rule a boat out. Valet spaces are 10′ wide and our team does the positioning. If the beam is over 8′ 6″, call the office to confirm the best space.

Height decides whether indoor works. At RV Storage Depot – Norwalk and RV Storage Depot – Altamonte Springs, a boat has to be 13′ or lower on its trailer, because our indoor doors are 14′ and we want a foot of clearance. Measure from the ground to the highest point: the tower, an antenna or a rack. If it's over 13′ and the tower folds, measure it folded. RV Storage Depot – McClellan Park has no indoor height limit, so the tower doesn't have to fold there.

Measure it the way we do walks through all three numbers. For the space sizes at a California location, see the boat guide for Norwalk, McClellan Park near Sacramento or Great Park in Irvine.

Which one we'd pick

If the boat has a tower, or you just want it under a roof, start with indoor valet. It's out of the sun and weather, and our team parks it. Too tall to go inside at Norwalk or Altamonte Springs, even with the tower folded? Outdoor valet there still parks it for you. Near Sacramento, RV Storage Depot – McClellan Park has no indoor height limit.

Most other boats do fine outdoors. Pick self parking if you like to come and go on your own. Pick outdoor valet, at RV Storage Depot – Norwalk or RV Storage Depot – Altamonte Springs, if you'd rather not back a trailer in every trip.
